Carriage House Project: Hydronext House
Fictitious Site in Based in Toronto, Summer 2014
Hydronext House
The house was designed as part of a project based on familiarising students with the working/tender drawing standards, HVAC systems and DWV system practices in the industry, on a fictional site, based in Toronto.
The Hydronext House was inspired by the solar decathlon going on at the time it was conceived. Using passive heating and cooling strategies encompassing studies in solar gain, thermal massing and most importantly solar hydronics.
The building and final design was not only a good practice for drafting appropriately and learning about architectural technologies but also as a passive energy exercise including a recovery line back into the host residential house.
